Due to the current and foreseeable COVID-19 restraints for events and changes in event personnel, the Wonthaggi Human Powered Grand Prix will NOT proceed on our traditional March event date in 2021.

The COVID-19 impact continues

The health and wellbeing of our participants, their family and friends and volunteers are the highest priority.

For an event which typically draws over 3,500 people aged 9 to 70 competing and camping together in close proximity, the measures required to manage this in a COVID safe way are costly, time-consuming and difficult to implement.

The subsequent flow-on impact on regional and rural health services would also be significant if an outbreak occurred.

As a result, we are not in a position to hold the 2020 Wonthaggi Human Powered Grand Prix in March 2021, but would like to see the event return in autumn 2022, or potentially in spring 2021, if possible.

We request that you subscribe to our eNewsletters for further event updates.

New Event Management Personnel Needed

There is also a pressing need for new event management personnel to deliver the Wonthaggi Human Powered Grand Prix in the future. Ideally this would be held in autumn 2022, or potentially in spring 2021, if possible.

We also wish to encourage further discussion amongst the Wonthaggi and HPV communities about the future sustainability of this great event.

If you – or someone you know – have skills and a passion for managing school and community events, please get in touch with us via the contact details below to discuss:
